How pretty is this? According to Wikipedia, Loi Krathong (or Loy Krathong, Thai: ลอยกระทง) is a festival celebrated annually throughout Thailand and certain parts of Laos. Loi Krathong takes place on the evening of the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar. In the western calendar this usually falls in November.

"Loi" means "to float" and a "krathong" is traditionally made from a section of banana tree trunk. Modern krathongs are more often made of bread or styrofoam.During the night of the full moon, Thais will float their krathong on a river, canal or a pond lake.

Loi Krathong coincides with the Lanna (northern Thai) festival known as "Yi Peng" (Thai: ยี่เป็ง). A multitude of Lanna-style sky lanterns (khom loi (Thai: โคมลอย), literally: "floating lanterns") are launched into the air where they resemble large flocks of giant fluorescent jellyfish gracefully floating by through the sky.

The most elaborate Yi Peng celebrations can be seen in Chiang Mai, the ancient capital of the former Lanna kingdom, where now both Loi Krathong and Yi Peng are celebrated at the same time resulting in lights floating on the waters, lights hanging from trees/buildings or standing on walls, and lights floating by in the sky.

I must see this someday!

This is also very beautiful! Can't wait to see Edward in the first installment of Breaking Dawn on November 18.

This might be my all time favorite quote from a book. I cried my eyes out when I read it. I might go to the midnight opening for this one! The Hunger Games movie premieres March 23, 2012. I cannot wait!

I was so excited when I saw this pin! An easy way to fold fitted sheets! WOO HOO! Yeah, ummm...I tried this Sunday night and I could not get it to work for me. After 10 minutes of repeating the steps and re-reading the instructions, I gave up. Little Miss Martha Stewart I am not.

I also tried this on Sunday and it was fabulous! I changed the recipe some to make it less indulgent. Here's my version:

2 cans low fat crescent rolls
1 package low fat cream cheese
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons melted butter
cinnamon & sugar

Unroll 1 package of crescent rolls to cover the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish. Mix together cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and melted butter. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the crescent roll layer. Cover the cream cheese layer with the other package of crescent rolls. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes.

I agree. Those sheet-folding instructions aren't detailed enough.

Did you watch this season of the Bachelorette? I'm pretty sure when Ashley & Ben were in Chiang Mai, they released a paper lantern too.

And I have been avoiding pininterest, because I don't need another internet time wasting. But I think I'm about to give in... could you sent me an invite please!?!
