Friday Letters

Photobucket

Dear Target-

You are a genius.  You knew I would never sign up for a stinking credit card, so you came up with The Red Card.  Now I can save 5% on all my purchases AND get free shipping on my target.com orders??  Thank you and I hate you for making it so easy to spend all my money on you.  I just can't quit you!

Dear Mother Nature-

I am really not looking forward to this heat wave.  A whole week of 100 degree+ days?  In June?  Gross.  I can't wait to see what you have in store for July and August.  NOT.

Dear Cam-

I love your stinking cute face.  But I hate that you can not keep your face out of my face all freaking night.  Can you please just lay down for an hour so I can have some TV time?  Is this punishment for the bad haircut I gave you this week?  Or maybe you are pissed because the heat wave is going to prevent us from taking our daily runs.  Either way, you need to take a chill pill and let me have some relaxation time.

Dear Pool-

I am so glad we have gotten to spend some quality time together this summer thanks to my summer hour Fridays.  I love you and will see you in a few.

Dear California-
I'm so freaking excited I finally get to meet you!  San Diego I will see you soon!

Dear Readers-
I'm so sorry I have sucked at blogging.  I'm going to be back to normal posting with some awesome stuff next week.  Thanks for sticking with me through this quiet period!  Hope you have a freaking fabulous weekend!!

Silver Lining Playbook

I know this is a cop out yet again as opposed to a full post, but how cute does this movie look??

I was sitting here with a huge grin on my face the whole time watching this trailer!

Obsessed with Coconut!

It all started when Amber tweeted about being obsessed with these coconut popsicles.  I LOVE coconut and they sounded heavenly so I asked her what kind.  Ladies and gentlemen...these are awesome!

They are only 120 calories and so yummy!  I also love the strawberry ones Edy's makes too and those are only 80 calories.  I tried the Pineapple too but was not a fan of those.

I also have been rushing to work the past couple days and got lazy and stopped at Dunkin' Donuts 4 times in the past 2 weeks.  Big mistake.  I always get the same thing- a medium caramel iced coffee and a toasted coconut doughnut.  The stupid doughnut has 300 calories and the iced coffee is 260 calories!  Ouch!  I don't even want to know how much sugar that lovely breakfast has.  I need to rule out the Dunkin Donuts stops ASAP!
At home, I put some coconut air fresheners in my wallflowers and I swear for the first 2 weeks it smelled like walking in to a tropical vacation every time I walked in to my house.  I can't remember if they were the Island Colada or the Vanilla Coconut ones from Bath and Body Works so I just ordered both because they were on sale for their Semi-Annual sale!

I also got 3 different kinds of coconut shower gel and a coconut air freshener for my car!  Along with some other stuff.  I got 14 things for about $50!  Awesome sale!  You should check it out!

Are you loving coconut too this summer?  What other coconut things should I know about?

Kayking for the first time!

I finally marked something else off my list this weekend!  #9- kayak- is DONE!  I don't know why it took me so long to do this one.  One of my friends from my small group said she was interested in trying it so I was like YES! Lets GO!  I had been waiting for a friend to do this with. So excited to finally mark it off my list!

It ended up being four of us.  We ended up going with Frog Hollow Outdoors and did the West Point Millpond Impoundment one on the Eno River in Durham.  None of us had been there before but it was really nice.  We went around noon and when we got there we drove around and finally saw a tent set up with some kayaks.  It was only $18 each for 2 hours which was just perfect.

We each got our own kayak.  We paddled upstream to start, but it was very easy, very flat, and hardly any current to paddle against.  It was so relaxing!  We just chatted and lazily paddled along.  We all talked about how this would be the perfect date.  It's relaxing and you can talk, but you have something to do too so not super awkward.

We got to a spot we could not paddle through because of the rocks and it was so shallow, so we pulled our boats up on the shore and walked a short way to this neat swimming hole.

We hung out at the swimming hole for a while.  Some guys from Durham Fire and Rescue were there getting a lesson in how to save people from rapids. We watched them get their lesson for a while, floated in the water a little, and ate some snacks while we hung out on the rocks to dry off.

When we got back to our boats there was a couple in a canoe trying to navigate through the shallow water and they were getting nowhere.  We tried to tell them it was too shallow, but the guy was bound and determined to make it work.  He even stated yelling at his poor date in the back about how they should do it.  So lesson learned- Get your own boats just in case you are with a hard-headed guy so you can pull your boat on shore and just let him try to prove his point without getting yelled at.

We paddled back downstream  (more like floated).  It was so relaxing!  The prefect weather, perfect surrounding, perfect company!

Frog Hollow Outdoors has many other kayaking options and now I want to try them all.  There is also a company in Raleigh- Paddle Creek- That has a wine tasting and a moonlight kayak trip that I want to do too (especially with a boy I like!)  Definitely something I will be doing again!

Guest Post! Taylor from The Daily Tay

Well Hello!

My name is Taylor and I blog over at The Daily Tay
Original blog name, I know. But Princess Diaries was already taken…

Anyway,
I live in Chicago with that handsome fellow above,
and our very vocal, and incredibly needy dog, Harlow.

I blog about whatever catches my eye for the day.
Which as of lately has been something regarding Emily Maynard,
Florida cannibals,
or the fact that my boyfriend likes to say I “hide his stuff”
when in fact, I just put it away.
What’s up with that?

And today, in honor of Suz’s lovely blog,
I thought I’d talk about my own list.
I just turned 25 two weeks ago, and decided I should make a list of
25 things to do for my 25th year.
#1 on the list: is to actually make the list.
I just keep talking about it.
#2 was originally going to be: go on kayaking tour down the Chicago River.
But too many Yelp reviews say dead rats float next to you on this tour…ew.
So I have to rethink this one.
#3 should be: run Chicago Marathon.
But that’s already full. So I think I’ll just say, run a marathon.
#4 : Go to amateur night at comedy club and tell jokes.
But first I have to write my bit, or learn what a “bit” is.
And come up with some jokes…
#5: Go skydiving.
Cliché, but whatever.
#6: Stop picking nails and cuticles. For real this time.
#7: Get out of debt- so maybe rethink skydiving, I think it’s like $250.
#8: Actually watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s rather than just pretending like you’ve seen it all these years.
#9: Cook a turkey. Mmm I love leftover turkey.
And by the time I get to #10 I’m usually ready for a drink.

I’ll finish this later.
Stop on by sometime, I love new visitors!

To crush or not to crush?

I am sorry I have not been blogging much lately.  You see my mind has been a little preoccupied...

I have a crush.  I full blown crush.  At first it was kind of exciting.  Getting butterflies.  Flirting.  Day dreaming.  But now it has become overwhelming.  I hate it actually.  As much as I want something to happen with the crush, I am SO afraid of something real happening.  I can't take getting hurt again.  I can't take losing a best friend again.  Sometimes it is better to keep it all in your head.  Until that is all that is in your head!

Maybe I have built him up too much in my head?

Maybe I have read too much in to the situation and he really isn't in to me at all?

Maybe something could happen but then it wouldn't work out and I'd be devastated?

What if he doesn't love Jesus?

Does he know that I like him?

Should I be doing something to try to get him?

What if he does know but he doesn't like me?

What if he's just not that in to me?

What if he is into me but is just too shy or hasn't seen a opportunity to do anything?

And talk about insecurities.  I have so many insecurities.  About my body.  About my awkwardness.  About my conversation skills.  About my flirting abilities.

I've always had this crush problem.  I've had intense crushes since middle school.  I used to make up code-names for them all so that I could talk about them with my friends without anyone knowing who we were talking about.

In fact #6 on my list was "ask out a crush".  But I wrote HERE about why I was crossing that one off the list without doing it.  But maybe I should reconsider?  hmmm highly unlikely...

I wish I could just turn it off.  Just go back to a time when I didn't have a crush on this person and everything was normal.  Ahh I remember that time.  It was so much less stressful.

Maybe I want something to happen.  Maybe I don't.  Either way I wish it would move in one direction or the other because right now I am just consumed.

Since I am so consumed and cannot form coherent thoughts in my head, I have lined up a fabulous guest blogger for tomorrow.

And if any of you readers would like to guest blog this week while I try to get this crush situation under control, please let me know!
