10 All Time Favorite Books- just in time for summer!

Cookouts, long nights, vacations, and beach/poolside reading! I love summer. Yeah it's hot, but summer is just packed with fun activities and its also the time of the year when I fly through books. There is nothing better to pass the time laying out while reading a good book.

I love to read and you can check out reviews of the books I read on my Bookshelf Blog. But I don't think I have ever read the same book twice. I'm just not one of those people who can re-read a book. I already know the story and how it ends, so it is hard for me to think that I would love it as much the second time around. But if I did here are 10 books I would re-read. If you are looking for a good poolside/beach read this summer, you can't go wrong with these:

Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See

Summer Sisters by Judy Blume

Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella

She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb

The Book of Bright Ideas by Sandra Kring

The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom

The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

The Perfect Manhattan by Leanne Shear and Tracey Toomey

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Piccoult

I also can't wait to see this movie!!

What are your favorite books??

I think you should pick up "Innocence" by Kathleen Tessaro. It was amazing.

I've read the second 2 on your list already. Summer Sisters is the perfect summer book. Definitely Judy Blume, but all grown up. It's a great story that will make you think about childhood best friends and your first love. I hope you like it! Obviously I did.

I saw this at the perfect time--i was just trying to come up with some new books for summer. And, I loved bitter is the new black and her subsequent books (my bff just downloaded bitter in audio format and drove cross country and said she laughed the whole way). so fun.

Thanks for the suggestions!!! I LOVE to read too! And the summertime is just perfect for reading :) I'm currently reading Beach Music by Pat Conroy.

I actually started reading Bitter is the New Black today.

If you haven't read it yet, you should read The Time Traveler's Wife and they're making a movie of it too

I don't like to read books more than once either. There are only a few that I could do that with. Check out House Rules by Rachel Sontag. I just finished it and I loved it, I would definitely read it again. I'm going to check out the books on your list that I haven't yet read. Thanks!!!

I also like the Wally Lamb book. This summer I am reading Water For Elephants, Brief Topics in Calamity Physics, and Infinite Jest.

Thanks for getting me excited about what I am reading!

I've read a handful of these, and all of the others are on my list! I wholly endorse them all (with the exception of The Notebook--too sappy for my liking, but excellent plot. I just can't handle that Sparks-y writing style). I LOVED Snowflower and the Secret Fan, and have just borrowed Peony in Love--by the same author--from the library.

The last really excellent book I read was Outliers, by Malcolm Gladwell. Nonfiction, but so, so interesting. Definitely recommended (and bonus--every time I busted it out to read it in public, total strangers would remark on how good a book it was. I know that makes me sound shallow, that other people's impressions of my taste mattered--but it felt good!)
