Countdown to Christmas & Giveaway #4

We are getting closer and closer to Christmas!

Are you all ready?

I’m certainly not. I haven’t wrapped a single present. I still have some shopping to do. I have to cook Christmas dinner and I haven’t even made my list and gone shopping for the food yet (although I do have a huge turkey defrosting in my fridge). My mom requested I cook a turkey this year. I have never cooked a turkey before, so we shall see how this turns out. Maybe I should have some microwave lasagna on hand just in case?

Speaking of cooking, I watched Julie and Julia this weekend. It was pretty good. I liked the blogging aspect of course. But really who does that happen to? I mean what a dream come true…to become a writer because of your blog!

Back to the point- Grateful Giveaway #4!

You know I love to read and I hope you all do too because this week’s giveaway is a $10 Borders gift card!

I used to be loyal to Barnes and Noble. Now with paperbackswap.com I don’t have to buy books too often (although I do make way more trips to the post office!) But when I do buy books, I find myself heading to Borders more and more. They always have good deals, send out way more coupons, and you don’t have to pay to be a part of their membership club (unlike B&N). Even if you don’t win the gift card, you should check them out!

If you'd like to win the Borders gift card, here's how to enter:

1. Become a follower- if you're not already
2. Leave a comment on this post with YOUR favorite book or a book you are dying to get your hands on!

I'll draw a winner on Friday (Christmas Day!). Good Luck!

P.S. Shoshanah at From L.A. to LA is doing a book giveaway on her blog in honor of her Blogoversary! Go check it out!

Im a Borders lover as well! I belong to a website called goodreads.com, which is similar to paperbackswap.com. I recently received The History of Love by Nicole Krauss and I cant wait to get my hands on it. Of course Christmas activities are keeping me away from it....

Good Luck with the turkey!

I never bought anything in borders, I prefer my half.com however I am going to check paperbackswap.com.
Anyway, My favorite book is The New Psycho-cybernetics from Dr. Maxwell Maltz. I know it sounds weird and scary. However, it motivated me to continue reading books about self improvement and helped me to getting to know myself a litle bit more. Also, it inspire me to discover the meaning of my emotions.
If you have a chance, i will totally recomend it, specially for people who like to learn about themselves more.

Merry Xmas =)
P.S: I will be driving to North Carolina to spend Xmas, i will be taking Zoe (my dog) in her first road trip adventure

Where is Borders down here Suz? I must be blind because all I ever see is B&N and I still go in there and write down titles then go home and order them from half. ha!
So actually, I want to get that book that your pastor was talking about in his sermon (yeah I went and listened to it yesterday). You know I have issues with my dad, so that book sounds like it's right up my alley. And I always have books on my list... Pretty in Plaid is one of them so I'll be sure to check out your review on that. I have to hurry up and read my stack before school starts up again! Yikes. Who are you cooking for just you and your mom? Turkey isn't that hard to make, you'll do just fine, just take out the innards before you start! :)

Merry Christmas hugs if I don't talk to you!

How did I not know about Paperbackswap.com?! I love it already.

There are so many books I am dying to read, but the one I've been wanting to since September has been Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. I love his style of writing and Everything is Illuminated was fantastic!

Have a great holiday!

A book store gift certificate!! I would just be wrong of me not to try and win. Right now, I'm reading "Outlander" and will probably pick up the second book in the series very soon. It's called, "Dragonfly in Amber", but basically I'll find any excuse to go to the book store. I'm not a member of paperback swap, but I've heard about it and was thinking I might join. We'll see. I usually like to keep the books I buy.

Merry Christmas!

I hope you find time to get everything finished.

I love borders too. I like other book stores but this is my favorite and a book that I LOVED is the perks of being a wallflower by stephen chbosky.

I want to get my hands on a lot like break by hannah moskowitz and more.

I love Border's too!! I'm trying to buy fewer books, and read the ones I already have or use the library, but I have to buy new ones every now and then! So this would be lovely! Thanks for all your nice giveaways this holiday season!!

My favorite book of all time is All the King's Men, by Robert Penn Warren, but my favorite book recently was the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.

I am a (new) follower!

I'm hoping to read the new Glenn Beck book. Not that I'm a hard core fan, but I think his point of view is interesting and I'd like to digest it. :)

I'm a follower.

I love bookstores...and I love books. I'd hafta say my favorite is To Kill a Mockingbird. Atticus Finch is awesome and I would've married him yesterday, if he'd have me.

Okay, as someone whose cooked a ton of Turkeys, I can promise you it's super, SUPER simple! You'll do great!

One 'trick' is to cook the turkey for 2/3 of its cooking time breast down in the water (oh yeah, keep a few inches of water in the roasting pan), and flip it the last bit of time where the breast meat is facing 'up' to let it brown.....this keeps the breast meat SOOOO moist and amazing! :-)

My favorite book is the washingtonienne. It's kind of smutty, but I still love it.
